Holograms - A hologram is a three-dimensional image, created with photographic projection created with 2D images. (https://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/hologram) Sixth grade students created holograms that can be used with a holographic prism to make them appear 3D. You can download your template of a holographic prism here.
Lava Lamp Ornaments
As chemists, students created a simulated lava lamp by creating a chemical reaction that combined vegetable oil, Alka Seltzer, and water.
Shake It Up - Earthquake Structures
As Architectural Engineers, students designed earthquake safe structures that included design features, such as cross-bracing and tapered geometry. Their structure was placed on a shake table to determine the magnitude of the earthquake it could withstand.
Riveting Roller Coaster
As Roller Coaster Designers, students designed various roller coasters that used potential and kinetic energy to move a marble complete along its track.
Recess Games
As Game Designers, student groups had to create recess games that can be played by all students in grades K-8. They were challenged to create an original brand new game, or they had the option to modify an older game and make it new.

As Chemical Engineers, students were challenged to create a better version of plastic. One that is environmentally friendly, completely biodegradable, and that would limit greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
