5th Grade (2020-2021)

"I Can See Clearly Now" - As environmental engineers, students constructed filters that produce water clear enough that someone can read the smallest line on an eye chart through it

"Honk for Hybrids" - Recently, fifth graders worked as automotive engineers to develop a balloon-powered car prototype that will travel as far as possible.

"Gondolas on Zip Lines" - This idea behind this challenge was from the "Mount of Temptation Monastery" located in Jericho, Israel.  This monastery was built on the side of a mountain believed to be where Jesus spent 40 days in the desert and was tempted by the devil three times.  There is an actual working Gondola that carries tourists to and from the mount. (Jericho and the Mount of Temptation Link)  Students had to construct a Gondola that could bring the "monks" (markers) down the zipline as quickly and safely as possible.
